Vallisneria, also known as Eel Grass or Tape Grass, has long slender grass like leaves. Those pleasing light green leaves can be flat or twisted gently just like a corkscrew. In a good light, it will sprout out runners like strawberry plants, and multiply rapidly. Sometimes it will send up some of its long stems to the surface, where they will be crowned small cup shaped of white flowers. Common wild form Vallisneria found in the northeastern part of United States is not suitable for use in an aquarium.
