Angel Fish – Pterophyllum Eimekei

Angel fish or Scalare aka Manvis from the Amazon and Guiana is one of the most popular display fish in the world. It could reach a size about five or six inches. Just like the other Cichlids, it is partial to a few small fishes, so that size must be considerated too. Temperature range from 75 to 90 degree. It is not an easy fish to breed, because it is extremely difficult to distinguish the sexes between male and female. The eggs are laid on the leaves of plants or on the glass side and hatch in about eight to nine days. To prevent the parents eating the eggs, we better removed the eggs to another aquarium with exactly same water and temperature.
