The species is named after Manuel Ramirez, an early importer and collector of the species for the aquarium trade. George S. Myers and R. R. Harry (1948) originally described the species as Apistogramma ramirezi though the species was latter moved to and from various species including: Microgeophagus, Papiliochromis, Pseudoapistogramma and Pseudogeophagus. Ramirezi or Ram cichlid is a popular tropical freshwater Cichlid, aquarium society, although it is not necessarily the easiest and cheapest way to maintain the Cichlid many situations. This because the species are often considered to be anything other than fish that are more assertive, aggressive or too active. The innately type was shy and kept the most passive jahkailevat of fish, such as neonovi or cardinal tetras. The species may occur in the processing will to implement the waters of pH 5.0-6.5, while the softer the water will encourage more regular spawning. It be in a better position to maintain the species in large aquariums than the species intolerant of the whole of substances such as nitrates aquarium. In the aquarium should be designed to replicate the natural environment, and this is the best decorated with a number of closely planted in areas of aquatic plants of each type is open water. The inclined to cannibalism filial his brood distressed. As if the water must be free of contaminants, aquarium filtration is important, although the movement of water, it should not be extreme. Removal and replacement of small amounts of water changes provide assistance to reduce the levels of these compounds and should be organised regularly.
